Blind guinea pig and her guide animal sister are looking for a new home

Are you looking for adorable new pets? Read on.

Two cute guinea pigs looking for new home together – as one is completely blind and relies on her sister as her guide animal.

Furry siblings Ami and Yuki, are inseparable as Yuki acts as the eyes for Ami, who is completely blind.

The six-year-old guinea pigs are being looked after at the RSPCA Danaher Animal Home, in Braintree, Essex – but are looking to be rehomed together.

RSPCA supervisor Craig Horsler said: ‘Unfortunately Ami is completely blind – but gets around fine thanks to her sister, Yuki, leading the way and helping to guide her.

‘Poor Ami also has a little head tilt caused by a previous ear problem. But her health problems don’t cause her any pain and certainly don’t slow her down, thanks to Yuki’s support.’

Ami, who is jet black, and Yuki, who is light grey, are looking for an indoor-only home and could live with children over the age of eight, but must come in a pair.

‘The pair are really close and so we must find them a home together,’ added Craig.

‘Ami is always the first to emerge when she hears the rustle of a bag of treats, but waits for Yuki to seek them out so she can follow her lead. It’s adorable to watch.

‘Yuki is more than happy to be her sister’s eyes and looks out for her every day. Ami has adapted really well and her blindness doesn’t hinder her at all.

‘Both of the piggies are very confident and friendly, and enjoy spending time around people and being stroked.’
