How did the two women’s Remembrance Day appearances compare as they carried out the event in their varying different roles. Kate Middleton stood at the cenotaph, sharing her balcony with Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.
She looked appropriately downcast and sombre for the occasion.
Kate wore a military-inspired Alexander McQueen jacket in black to mark the occasion.
Judi said: “Standing alone on the balcony, Kate looked upright, elegant and utterly regal.
“With her hair swept back in a severe bun and in a sharply-tailored, military-style black coat, her normally-smiling face reflected the somber mood of the day, but if there was a moment when her charisma let us know we were looking at a future queen this was it.”
Judi went on: “We see Kate Middleton in her role as wife and mother and recently we have seen her on some solo royal visits, looking confident and fun, but this occasion allowed us to see what looked like a firmer, more serious and even mature side.
“Without the Queen beside her and with Camilla a large social-distanced gap away she adopted the kind of pose of confident status that mirrored some of the Queen’s inner strength and iron will.”
The Duchess of Sussex’s Remembrance Day event was a different affair.
Over on the other side of the ocean, she and Harry attended a sunny cemetery to lay flowers.

Meghan wore a £16,000 outfit for the event with a stylish black coat from Brandon Maxwell.
Judi said: “Meghan’s role was entirely different and she adopted the body language that was suitable for it.
“Appearing beside and slightly behind Harry, she posed like a supportive wife to a man expressing what looked like moments of personal mourning and reflection.
“With a more celebrity look in terms of her styling and free-flowing hair, Meghan signalled via her body language that this was Harry’s moment of personal reflection, with her hand-holding and arm-rubbing signalling quiet reassurance.”
Meghan and Harry’s Remembrance photos were criticised by many.
The pair walked through graves at the Los Angeles National Cemetery.
A spokesman for the couple said it was important to them “to be able to personally recognise Remembrance in their own way.”
Commentator Dawn Neesom told talkRADIO: “I saw these pictures this morning and it looked like a fashion shoot. I was sickened by it.”
However, many supported the pair, asking why Harry should not commemorate the day given he served in the armed forces himself.
Kate Middleton wore three poppies for the occasion and earrings notable because they are borrowed from the Queen.
It is a sign respect between the two women that Her Majesty allows the wife of Prince William to wear these gems.
She has worn them often herself, clearly marking out the pieces as a favourite of the Queen.
