Martin Lewis: Expert reveals best savings accounts right now
Drafting a will is something that will be on the minds of many Britons.
While this can be a pricey task, the Money Saving Expert revealed how to save hundreds by doing it now.
Speaking on This Morning, he said: “There’s no getting around it, death happens.
“So, if you have children and/or assets, such as a home or savings, and people you want to look after when you’re gone, it’s vital to sort a will. And now’s a good time to do it.
“March is Free Wills Month, so those aged 55 or over can get a gold standard solicitor-drafted or updated will for free – it can usually cost around £200 for a single or £300 for a joint.”
With Free Wills Month taking place next month, Britons can save by drafting their will now.
This will lead to an incredible saving of £300 for some people.
Although it is free to do, he explained Britons are encouraged to offer a donation to a partnered charity.
The expert added: “It’s hoped you’ll then leave a donation in your will to a partner charity.
These include Age UK, British Heart Foundation, Dog’s Trust and Diabetes UK.
“Although you don’t have to perhaps a good minimum is leaving enough that would cover the solicitors’ fees normally.
“Whatever you choose, there’s nothing to pay upfront.”

The offer is available in most areas across the country and viewers should check their local areas.
Some areas that do not offer the deal this month might have it available in October this year.
“It’s across most of the UK, including London, Liverpool, Mid Wales and Scotland,” Martin told the presenters.
“Some areas are excluded for example Birmingham, Manchester and Northern Ireland – but it will be available in these areas in October, so check back then.”
Free Wills Month takes place in May but those hoping to take part are being urged to make appointments now as spaces will fill up quickly.
He said: “You can start to make bookings from now for March, and as places tend to go quickly, it’s best to book in an appointment ASAP.
“And note, you don’t have to live in the area to qualify, but you will be expected to travel to the solicitor’s office for your appointment.”
