Imagine having lengthy, voluminous lashes without the hassle of glueing falsies on or paying for an expensive treatment every few weeks. The dream, right?

Luckily one clever beauty fan may have just found a solution, with a quick and easy hack that requires only your favourite mascara and three simple steps.

Posting to her TikTok page, Mirella Bernal shared a step-by-step video tutorial sharing how she achieves a false lash effect with only a mascara.

In the short clip, Mirella can be seen applying the Maybelline The Falsies Lash Lift Mascara, £9.99 here – but with a twist.

Instead of applying the product in a typical upwards sweeping motion from root to tip, Mirella recommends breaking it down into stages.

Speaking to her followers, the beauty fan says: “Take your favourite mascara, if you already like it, you’re going to love it with this technique.

“Now what we’re not going to do is start at the roots and drag the brush all the way through our lashes.”

Mirella then goes on to explain the method, starting with step one.

“We’re going to do three coats, and what we’re going to do is actually start on the very tips of the lashes.”

  • This viral make-up hack is supposed to stop any foundation from sliding off – so we test it out

The TikTok user can be seen gently applying the product on the ends of her eyelashes only.

“The second coat is going to be the middle of the lashes and you’re definitely not going to touch the roots yet.”

Mirella then reveals the third and final step of the beauty hack.

“The third coat gets out all of the clumps,” she says.

Starting at the base of your lashes and brushing all the way to the ends, Mirella recommends closing your eyes to avoid any mascara printing on your eyelids.

“That third coat really combs out all of the clumps and also keeps your curl.

“This is how to make your lashes not fall completely flat,” she adds.

To finish off the look, Mirella applies mascara to her bottom lashes, but this time using a product with a smaller applicator brush to avoid any mistakes.

While the TikTok user doesn’t specify which product she uses for her bottom lashes, we recommend the Collection Cosmetics Long Shot Lengthening Mascara, £3.99 here, which will not only help you achieve a lengthier lash, but also features a fan effect brush tip.
