Aidan Turner first rose to fame in 2015 when he starred in BBC’s historical drama Poldark, where he played the lead as Captain Ross Poldark. More recently, he has stepped away from his iconic look for a brand new ITV thriller series titled The Suspect.
From the producers of The Pembrokeshire Murders, Line of Duty and Vigil, according to ITV, The Suspect is set to be a gripping, nail-biting thriller.
Aidan will star as lead and will portray Doctor Joe O’Loughlin, a successful family man who appears to have it all.
As well as his devoted wife and loving daughter, he runs a successful practice as a clinical psychologist with a media profile and a publishing deal.
The doctor rose to fame online after he was seen rescuing a young patient who was ready to take their own life from the 10th floor of the hospital Doctor Joe works at.

However, this will all be brought into questioning when the body of a young woman is found.
After meeting DCI Devi, the doctor is too willing to use his new social media following to help with profiling and as a successful author, he believes he could offer expertise.
With an all-new persona, perhaps his diagnosis with a debilitating illness was to blame.
However, as the murder investigation begins to unfold, viewers will be left wondering if they truly know the real Joe.
Aidan released a statement about his new role, which read: “I am thrilled to be taking on the complex and demanding role of Joseph O’Loughlin, a man with so much to give but so much to lose, and a hidden darker side.”
This new character is worlds away from Ross Poldark, which is where a majority of viewers will recognise him from.
Poldark was very historical as it started with Aidan’s character returning from the American Revolution War to rebuild his life after so much changed.
However, much like Poldark, The Suspect will also be the onscreen adaptation of a novel written by Michael Robotham.
The book was such a hit, it was translated into 25 languages and made Michael one out of five authors to twice win the UK Gold Dagger Award for best crime novel.
Michael shared his excitement and said: “I’m thrilled that The Suspect is being adapted by World Productions which has such an amazing track record of creating quality TV drama.”
“And Aidan Turner is an inspired choice to play the lead character of Joe O’Loughlin, I could not be in safer hands,” he continued.
Also starring alongside Aidan will be Shaun Parkes, Sian Clifford, Camilla Beeput, Adam James and Anjli Mohindra.
Writer Peter Berry shared his hopes for the series: “Bringing The Suspect to the screen has been a fantastic and fascinating journey.
“I hope the audience will find it equally enthralling as they delve the depths of a truly iconic character caught up in a story that will test his faith in his profession, his family and himself,” he added.
The Suspect will be a five-part drama which is set to become a huge hit amongst viewers.
A release date is yet to be announced, despite this express.co.uk will remain updated with new information.
