What is Bosch season 5 about?

Bosch is loosely based on Michael Conelly’s novel series featuring the character Detective Harry Bosh

There are 21 books in total in the Bosch series and each season so far has taken inspiration from the entire range.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the fifth series will be based on the 2017 novel Two Kinds of Truth, the 20th instalment in the Harry Bosch series.

The synopsis for the new season reads: “Fifteen months after bringing his mother’s killer to justice, Bosch (played by Titus Welliver) finds himself seeking the truth on two fronts.

“New evidence in an old case leaves everyone wondering whether Bosch planted evidence to convict the wrong guy.

“And a murder at a Hollywood pharmacy exposes a sophisticated opioid pill mill, sending Bosch down a dark and perilous path in pursuit of the killers.”

In the new season, Bosch is also trying to come to terms with his grief and raising his daughter Maddie (Madison Lintz).

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Welliver said: “I think that with the loss of Eleanor (Sarah Clarke), his relationship as well with Maddie becomes strengthened to a certain degree, out of emotional necessity and dependence.

“But yet there’s also an odd kind of division. There’s still this sort of chasm between the two of them, and I think part of it is them getting to know each other, Harry being kind of new to being a full-time parent, and that his child is no longer a child, she’s a young woman.

“So we sort of find him in this jumble, in that all these things come colliding.”

Welliver also revealed that in the new series, Bosch will go undercover on his own.

He said: “In the pursuit of this case, he has to go undercover, and he has no cellphone, he has no panic button, he can’t wear a wire, and he has no idea where this is going to take him.”

Who stars in Bosch season 5?

Sons of Anarchy and Lost veteran Titus Welliver is back as troubled LAPD detective Hieronymus “Harry” Bosch.
