Corrie legend to return to screens in touching British Soap Awards tribute

Coronation Street legend Liz Dawn is to return to our screens in a touching tribute at the British Soap Awards.

The ITV show will feature clips of her finest scenes as Vera Duckworth, along with contributions from her co-stars.

Soap Awards host Phillip Schofield will lead the tribute to Liz who died last September aged 77.

Liz first appeared in Corrie as factory worker Vera with just one line in 1974.

She became one of the Cobbles’ best-loved faces.

Her last appearance was in 2010 as the “ghost of Vera” in husband Jack Duckworth’s final scene.

The star, who died after 15-year battle with the lung disease emphysema, is only one of a handful of former soap stars to be honoured in this way.

At the 2008 Soap Awards she won a lifetime achievement gong.
