Corrie’s Gary Windass set for more twists as actor spills on character’s future
Coronation Street star Mikey North, 34, has opened up about the future of his character Gary Windass on the cobbles.
The actor explained that while Gary is currently behind bars, it won't be long before viewers see more of him.
Speaking on This Morning, Mikey confirmed that he has signed a new contract with ITV, keeping him on the show for the foreseeable future.
The announcement means any storyline where Gary is banged-up long term and off camera is all but ruled out.
Mikey said: "I love the stuff they give us, so long may that continue.
"I am in my own little prison bubble right now.
"I have no idea what is going on as all my scenes are the prison scenes."
Mikey was so out of the loop that he only discovered that his onscreen sister Faye Windass may be pregnant.
Laughing, Mikey joked: "I am fuming I didn't know.
"If I am fuming them imagine what Gary is going to do."
Asked if he plans to remain on the soap, Mikey replied: "I hope so Phil in this climate.
"I have just signed a new contract so i am here for the next while.
"I've had a good few years I can't complain."
Teasing where he thinks Gary's storyline could go next, Mikey said: "There is unfinished business there with him and Maria.

"They have been through a lot but he has not been the nicest guy to her.
"I hope she can find a way for him to forgive him if he gets out of prison."
Despite previously committing murder and getting away with it, Gary is currently behind bars for the attempted murder of Adam which wasn't him.
Only time will tell if he will be able to get off the hook or if his past has finally caught up with him.
