Dune movie trailer release date: The long wait for INCREDIBLE first footage is almost over

It’s probably the most anticipated film adaptation since The Lord of the Rings and the wait for Dune’s first trailer is almost over. The Denis Villeneuve sci-fi epic is set for release this Christmas, but fans are still eagerly awaiting that first footage. Now movie trailer expert Trailer Track has given an update on when the Dune trailer will land.

A movie fan tweeted: “Hello @trailertrack, can we expect a trailer for Dune this week ?

“Or do you think it will be unveiled with Tenet on August 26?”

To which Trailer Track replied: “We’d expect it before the 26th…or at the latest, before September 3.”

After all, August 26 is when Tenet is released in the UK and the Christopher Nolan movie is another Warner Bros property alongside Dune.

Another fan asked: “Is it still going to play with the US re-release of inception?

“Or was that cancelled?”

Trailer Track replied: “Seems like it won’t, WB is no longer advertising any sneak peeks at upcoming films as part of the re release, only the Tenet BTS footage.”

Meanwhile, Dune star Timothée Chalamet has confirmed that the first teaser will arrive in August.

A fan tweeted at the 24-year-old recently: “Timmy it’s my birthday today… give me some content about dune pls i’m the biggest fan.”

He simply replied: “Trailer before sept”.

Chalamet plays Paul Atreides in what will be part one of two, based on Frank Herbert’s classic novel.

The film also stars Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård and Dave Bautista.

Additionally, Dune features Zendaya, Jason Momoa and Javier Bardem.

The official synopsis reads: “A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, Dune tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding.

“[He] must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people.

“As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence-a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential-only those who can conquer their fear will survive.”

After seeing the first footage of Dune back in January, Canadian author Brian FH Clement tweeted: “I was in a work meeting today and got to see some promo/preview footage of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune, and I am ON BOARD with it. I think it looks fantastic.”

“I’m not exaggerating when I say a lot of people will have goosebumps/tears when they see this movie (I might!). Heck, when they see the footage I saw they will. To be honest, it’s not exactly how I pictured the universe of Dune when I first read the book (it never will be) but that’s a good thing. I really like the look Villeneuve has created and I think it’s going to be spectacular.

“I think this will blow people away the way LOTR did 20 years ago, the way Star Wars did 40 years ago. It’s not Jodorowsky or Lynch, but maybe Villeneuve has filmed the unfilmable.”

Dune will be released in UK cinemas on December 18, 2020.
