EastEnders fans blast Ben Mitchell's violent storyline as 'terrible message' from BBC

EASTENDERS fans have hit out at the soap after Ben Mitchell’s violent secret was exposed.

The mechanic – who is played by actor Max Bowden in the BBC soap – was caught trying to beat a homophobic thug to death with a metal pole in last night’s episode.

She covered for him and got the man help, but when she went to confront Ben she was utterly horrified.

Sharon demanded answers assuming Ben had attacked the man because he was angry, but when she mentioned Paul, Ben lost it.

"I’ve had enough of this already. He deserved it. He’s a gay hating scumbag just like the man who killed Paul. Shouting at people on the streets for trying to live their lives, so yeah he deserved it. They all did."

Horrified at what Ben had confessed to, Sharon realised Ben had been attacking homophobes for months.

Asked why, he said: “Because I was weak. I was weak when they attacked Paul, I was weak when they attacked Callum.

“But never again because I ain’t going to give any of them a chance. You saw that fella in the alley, you think he’s going to start shouting at strangers any time soon?

“I feel pretty safe now that I’m taking out these scumbags.

“I’m not going to stop Sharon, so if you want to report me, be my guest.”

However fans have hit out at the storyline.

One wrote: "I’m sorry but wtf is EastEnders doing with Ben… do they think this a good storyline to represent LGBTQ+?

"Him using the same means as the homophobes and turning to violence? That’s a terrible message to put across. #eastenders"

A second said: "I think Callum could work out that it's Ben who did the attack. He was angry yesterday when he walked out #EastEnders."

Another added:  "Shut up Ben he didn't deserve it. Nobody deserves to be killed #EastEnders."
