Hollyoaks stars threatening to quit and cast ‘at war’ forcing bosses into crisis talks to save soap – The Sun

HOLLYOAKS is in crisis with stars threatening to quit after a series of scandals hit the soap.

The Channel 4 soap has been engulfed in a racism row, had two cast members quit, one caught at an illegal quarantine rave and another call fellow actors "traitors" after they spoke about the racial issues on the show.

It has all left show bosses scrambling to contain the crisis and save the show.

An insider revealed: "They're having a string of meetings as it's one thing after another.

"The cast is at war, there is a lot of tension over Lysette's recent comments. Some cast have threatened to quit if something isn't done about it.

"And with Stephanie and Rachel quitting bosses are worried others will follow them out of the door. It's utter chaos – every week it's some new issue.

"The cast have been told that they're free to write whatever they want on social media and hold whatever opinion they like – soap bosses would never censor anyone – but when the cast are breaking lockdown rules and laws, that's really not OK."

Another insider added: "Everyone was really excited to get back to work but after everything that's happened some are dreading it.

"There's a real divide and there's a feeling some just don't understand what they've done wrong – or they don't care they've upset others."

Actress Rachel Adedeji revealed she had been subjected to racist treatment behind the scenes after the show posted in support of Black Lives Matters.

The former X Factor star, who has quit the show, was backed up by other cast members and soap bosses launched an investigation into her allegations.

The show's producers was forced to bring in unconscious bias trainers in an effort to stamp out the issues backstage – but days later Lysette Anthony hit out at racism claims and labelled those speaking out "traitors".

It sparked a furious backlash that saw her quit Twitter.

Meanwhile actress Stephanie Davis revealed last night that she had decided to leave the show permanently after her recent break.

To add to the scandals, Goldie McQueen actress Chelsee Healey was forced to apologise after attending an illegal "quarantine rave" at a Manchester beauty spot over the weekend.

She told The Sun: "On Saturday night I made a silly mistake. I now realise it was irresponsible and I am truly sorry."

Hollyoaks have been approached for comment.
