Josie Gibson leaves Vernon Kay in hysterics after labelling chefs risotto alright

Josie Gibson left her This Morning co-star Vernon Kay and the crew in hysterics as she made an unusual revelation that she “doesn’t understand risotto.”

The presenters, who are filling in for Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield during their Easter break, sat down to eat some risotto after a segment where Gino D’Acampo cooked up the rice dish.

As the camera returned to the studio, Josie quickly killed the mood as she labelled the dish “alright” but not as good as the Pad Thai the other chef made earlier.

Josie, 37, began: “Do you know what, I would say it’s alright. It’s not the pad thai, but it’s still alright.”

Looking deflated, Vernon, 47 said: “Oh" as Josie declared that she had never “understood” the rice dish: “But I wouldn’t order the risotto if I went somewhere really, I’ve never understood the risotto really.”

Vernon looked back down at the dish and continued: “Alright, well there you go."

Before he apologised to the audience and joked: “Apologies for the last ten minutes ladies and gentleman. Put a dampener on that didn’t you Jose!”

The camera cut to reveal the laughter coming from the sofa, as Claudia Winkleman fell about laughing at Josie’s unusual way of explaining her dislike for risotto.

“Absolutely killed it dead, didn’t she Claudia!” Vernon bellowed before laughing again: "'Don’t like risotto be honest with you’. Fair enough Jose, fair enough.”

The presenter tried to explain in more detail but Josie only managed to say: “I’m sorry, I’ve just never understood you know… risotto.”

Laughter could be heard off-screen coming from the crew and Claudia again, as Josie herself broke into a laugh, before she added: “It’s just a bit of rice isn’t it. But it is nice.”

Vernon decided to tidy the dish away so Josie didn’t have to eat it or sit with it anymore and left her to read the autocue.

“Do you know what let me put it out of your misery and take this away I’ll put it in the sink, there we go,” he said jovially, before looking into the camera to smile at the audience.

ITV viewers have loved how entertaining the show has been while Vernon and Josie have co-hosted together. Fans took to Twitter to commend the duo on their “great chemistry” and how “authentic” they seem on-screen.

One fan tweeted: “These two have great chemistry. Feels authentic. I know they are performers but nothing seems forced. And neither thinks they are the lead presenter #ThisMorning.”

Another added: “Love @Josiestweet & @vernonkay on @thismorning so much fun and down to earth #ThisMorning.”

As a third begged for the duo to replace Holly and Phil and become regular presenters: “Can we pretty, pretty please keep Vernon & Josie. So genuine with each other, great pairing #ThisMorning.”
