Lucifer fans are patiently waiting for the second half of the Netflix series to be released on the platform. While there is still no date in sight for the show just yet, filming has finished. So many may be wondering how long it usually takes between this ending and the series being released.

As Lucifer fans will know, season five of the show has faced many delays in its run so far.

The show initially had to shut down filming on its fifth season back in March 2020 due to the outbreak of coronavirus COVID-19.

This came when they were busy filming the final episode of the season.

However, this was thankfully able to begin once again at the end of 2020.

On October 6, filming concluded and viewers have been patiently waiting since for the show to be released.

Nothing official has been confirmed yet but the series is currently in post-production.

An update about this came in October from co-showrunner Joe Henderson on Twitter.

He wrote: “I mean, it’s finished SHOOTING. We still have plenty to do before it’s ready for Netflix!

“(I don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up about timeline).

“I genuinely don’t know how long it’ll take yet. But I think everyone should prepare for it taking longer than they’d like.

“Post-production is a lot of work and takes time! (definitely not December).”

There is no exact amount of time post-production actually takes as it often depends on several factors.

There also may have been some delays in post-production as a result of the pandemic.

These impacted the first half as well with Henderson confirming this on Twitter back in April 2020.

He wrote: “To all #Lucifans out there wondering when season 5 (part 1) drops – chances are, we’ll know when you do!

“There have been some post-production hiccups because of covid, but we’re working through them pretty well. Hopefully, we’ll all have an answer soon!”

The first eight episodes were then eventually released on August 21, 2020.

However, in an ideal world, season four indicates how long it could take.

Filming on the fourth outing took place between August and early December 2018.

The 10-episode season then landed on Netflix on May 8, 2019.

This means there was a five-month gap between these.

Given filming finished on season five back in October, this may mean a March or April release date if it followed the same timeline.

As soon as anything is confirmed, will keep you updated.
