Strictly Come Dancing finalists Rose Ayling-Ellis and her pro partner Giovanni Pernice joined Zoe Ball on BBC Radio Two on Wednesday morning to discuss the upcoming final of the BBC competition. Giovanni has come close in the past to winning the Glitterball Trophy but has always missed out. Rose proudly dedicated their Strictly journey and finale routine to Giovanni as she expressed she wanted to “win it” for him.

Speaking to Giovanni about making the final three in the past, Zoe said: “Giovanni, your fourth time in the final.

“You’ve been there with Georgia [May Foote], Debbie [McGee] and Faye [Tozer], you have never won, could this be your year?”

Before Giovanni could answer, Rose stepped in and proudly shouted: “That’s why I want to win it for him!”

Giovanni went on to explain: “I think, no matter what, we already achieved a lot, Zoe, and obviously winning the competition for me would be a dream come true.

“I have been there so many times, come so close yet so far, but it’s not about me, it’s about Rose, it’s about what Rose is achieving.”

Rose once again interrupted and confidently said: “No, it is about you because we are a team!”

Giovanni laughed at his partner and agreed: “Okay, so it’s about us we both want to win so, please vote for us.”

Speaking about being a Strictly finalist, Rose explained: “It’s been so long, it has taken over my life, and I can’t believe I’m on my very last week ever and I’m in the final!”

Zoe said: “And so deservedly so as well, Giovanni, how happy are you?”

Giovanni praised: “I’m so happy because I think she really deserves to be there, she has been working very, very hard.

“We both have worked very hard, and I think it is the right thing for her to be in the final, I think she deserves it.”

Ahead of their final performances, Zoe mentioned the biggest prop ever in a show dance performance, to which Rose teased: “Yes! That’s what I have been told.

“The biggest prop ever been shown on Strictly, and they’re making it this week, they only have three days!”

On Saturday night, Rose and Giovanni danced the Waltz to How Long Will I Love You by Ellie Goulding and the Argentine Tango to A Evaristo Carriego by Eduardo Rovira.

Throughout their Strictly journey, rumours have been rife about their relationship due to the amazing connection they have with one another.

On Saturday night, Giovanni fuelled the rumours even further after calling Rose “beautiful” after their Waltz performance.

Of course, the pair remain close friends and Strictly partners with Rose in a long-term relationship with her other half Sam.

Ahead of Saturday’s final, according to bookmakers Ladbrokes Rose and Giovanni stand a 1/7 chance of winning the Strictly Glitterball Trophy.

AJ Odudu and Kai Widdrington follow close behind with odds at 7/1 and John Whaite and Johannes Radebe at 16/1.

Strictly Come Dancing final airs Saturday at 7pm on BBC One.
