Royal Variety performance blunder as Greg Davies introduces the wrong act
Greg Davies made a bit of a faux pas in front of the royals when he introduced the wrong act at the Royal Variety performance.
The comedian was set to introduce a performer to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who watched on from the royal box, but sadly he got a little confused and walked off redfaced – leaving fans giggling.
He said: "Our next guest performed for a television audience of millions when he gae a spellbinding performance at the weddingof your royal highnesses, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
"The only people at the wedding who missed it were yourselves, as you were busy signing the register.
"So we would like to take you back to that magical day… this is the wrong…"
At this he looked to the side in confusion, before adding: "This is entirely the wrong link."
He then flipped his microphone as Prince Harry and Meghan are seen laughing from the box.
Greg told the crowd: "Yeah, yeah, I’m gonna walk on again but I tell you, if it goes wrong again, I’m walking."
He then ran off the stage and re-emerged, with fans cheering him as he comes back on, joking with the crowd: "I mean, that’s not going to work on telly, that sarcastic cheer, is it?"
Greg then left the stage once again, expecting a bigger cheer from the audience, which he got from Prince Harry who yelled out, along with Meghan who clapped and chuckled.
He then joked to the fans: "Oh, thank you, what a lovely welcome."
At hearing a wolf whistle, he looked a little perturbed, and said: "Oh no, I’m sorry, mum."
The rest of the performance has, so far, gone off without a hitch, and Meghan laughed heartily when Greg spoke about some of her early moments in the royal family, including her wedding and their Australia tour.
