John Malkovich

John Malkovich will portray iconic detective Hercule Poirot in The ABC Murders for the first time since David Suchet's ITV stint ended in 2013.

64-year-old John has an illustrious career spanning four decades with movies including Zoolander 2, Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon, and Burn After Reading.

With six more Agatha Christie adaptations to arrive on the BBC, it's likely John could return to the role of Poirot.

Rupert Grint

Best known for his work as Ron Weasley in the record-breaking Harry Potter movies, Rupert Grint will portray Inspector Crome in The ABC Murders – an old friend of Poirot's who begins to doubt the Belgian's abilities in his older age.

Since stepping away from Hogwarts, Rupert has taken over stage and screen with stints on Broadway and the West End.

He appeared in Postman Pat: The Movie and made a cameo in Ed Sheeran's Lego House music video.

Andrew Buchan

After training at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, TV success beckoned for Andrew Buchan.

A string of roles in The Fixer, Garrow's Law and Nowhere Boy led to his most critically-acclaimed work in ITV crime drama Broadchurch.

He followed it up with The Great Fire and starring opposite Michelle Williams in All the Money in the World.

The ABC Murders sees Andrew take on the role of Franklin Clarke.

Eamon Farren

Eamon Farren launched his career on medical dramas in his native Australia before making his mark in Hollywood.

His role of Richard Horne in the rebooted Twin Peaks series brought Eamon to his largest audience and he went on to star opposite Helen Mirren in 2018 horror film, Winchester.

The ABC Murders sees Eamon take on the role of war veteran Cust.

Shirley Henderson

Shirley Henderson is a Scottish actress famed for roles such as Gail in Trainspotting and Jude in the Bridget Jones Films.

She also played Moaning Myrtle in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

In 2018 she won an Olivier Award for Best Actress In A Musical for her role in Girl from the North Country.

She takes on the role of Rose Marbury in The ABC Murders.

Kevin McNally

Kevin McNally is best known for playing Joshamee Gibbs in The Pirates Of The Caribbean films.

He began his acting career playing Drake Carne, the younger brother of Demelza in the original 70s series of Poldark.

In 2011 he played Frank in the US sci-fi series Supernatural.

He takes on the role of Inspector Japp in the ABC Murders.

Gregor Fisher

Gregor Fisher is a Scottish comedian and actor.

He is best known for portraying Rab in the popular comedy series Rab C. Nesbitt.

In Love Actually he played the manager of has-been pop star Billy Mack (Bill Nighy) and starred as Mapes in the 2005 remake of Lassie.

Fisher takes on the role of Dexter Dooley in The ABC Murders.

Jack Farthing

Jack Farthing is best known for playing George Balfour in The Riot Club and and Freddie Threepwood in Blandings.

He studied History Of Art at Oxford before attending the London stage school LAMDA.

In Poldark reboot he plays George Warleggan.

Jack plays Donald Fraser in The ABC Murders.

Tara Fitzgerald

Tara Fitzgerald is best known for playing Selyse Baratheon in Game of Thronesand Dr Eve Lockhart in The Walking Dead.

In 1995 she won a New York Drama Desk award for her role as Ophelia in a stage production of Hamlet which also starred Ralph Fiennes.

In 2001 she married the American director John Sharian.

She will take on the role of Lady Hermione Clarke in The ABC Murders.

What is The ABC Murders and when will it be on BBC One?

The ABC Murders is set to air at 9pm on Boxing Day on BBC One.

Belgian detective Hercule Poirot faces a serial killer known only as A.B.C. who attacks victims in locations that take on alphabetical order.

Much like the recent Ordeal By Innocence adaptation, The ABC Murders will consist of three episodes.

Agatha Christie fanatics will be thrilled to know there's more on the way as the BBC have six more TV adaptations to follow.
