The Chase’s Anne Hegerty asked bizarre bonus question in final chase twist

There was a massive twist at the end of tonight’s The Chase as Anne Hegerty was asked a bizarre BONUS questipon.

The Governess was on the form of her life as she stormed to an emphatic victory against a solid team of four.

Anne stunned everyone by going on a phenomenal run of 20 correct questions in a row and catching the team with 25 seconds to spare.

This meant Darren, Josephine, Louisa and Marlo, who were not given a chance to push back, were sent home without a share of £20,000.

Anne said: "Sorry! They can’t push me back if I’m not getting them wrong. Bad luck guys, you played really well."

Bradley revealed that the would have needed a target of 25 or 26 to reach Anne’s "extraordinary" target.

He said: "I actually thought we were going to win. I’m dumbstruck."

But that wasn’t the end of the questions, as Brad really wanted to text the Chaser and see if she could have kept the hot streak going.

Bradley said: "Right I’m going to tell you now what the next question is. Lets see if you would have go it.

"Seriously – what is my second middle name?"

Anne guessed that it was "Michael", but got a chock when Bradley revealed the real answer.

"No, Barbara," he replied as the audience let out some giggles.

The Chase viewers flocked to Twitter to praise Anne for her incredible performance.

One fan said: "Wow…..that was brilliant…@anne_hegerty you are brilliant"

"That was the best Chaser performance I’ve seen… go the governess! Brilliant," added another.

A third said: "Wow!! @anne_hegerty probably the best chasers performance I’ve seen!"

*The Chase airs weekdays on ITV at 5pm
