The Chase’s Bradley Walsh tells player off after awkward technical blunder

The Chase is not often used to suffering from technical blunders and the ITV show has gone years being totally streamlined but Friday's episode saw one player suffer from an awkward moment during a difficult round.

The 36-year-old physiotherapist from Newark had already had already struggled in her cash builder round, only managing to rack up £2,000.

Facing the Dark Destroyer at the table, Kate became even more flustered as she was dealt a series of hard questions, and it got worse when she appeared to have a button that didn’t work.

During one question, the player could be seen desperately trying to press the button for answer C, and presenter Bradley Walsh turned to see what was going on.

"What you doing?” he asked, as a nervous Kate laughed that she’d been trying to press C.

Luckily, the button started to work but Bradley carried on teasing the contestant.

“What you doing? What you doing?” he pressed in jest, as Kate shook her head in dismay.

“It wasn’t working,” she giggled, and Bradley pretended to be faux-annoyed at the situation.

“What do you mean it wasn’t working? Put my flap back.

“Behave yourself for goodness sake,” the host ordered with a wink.

Unfortunately, Kate didn’t manage to beat Shaun Wallace, and she was sent home at the end of her round.

Having earlier learned the contestant was a skydiver for the British team, viewers took to Twitter to tease the loss.

“Kate has crash landed! I repeat, Kate has crash landed!” one person posted.

“Kate's chances of getting through have plummeted!” another joked.

A third quipped: “Head still in the clouds!”

While a fourth wrote: “She’ll be a great loss to the team in the final chase – if they need to jump out of an aeroplane at 18,000 feet.”

Friday's show also featured 42-year-old police officer Donnie Kent, 23-year-old student Jack from Burnley and Nicole, 58, a medical secretary from Plymouth.

The Chase continues weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
