The second Game of Thrones spin-off will follow House Targaryen’s bloody downfall – The Sun
DAENERYS Targaryen’s ancestors will dominate the second Game of Thrones spin-off series.
The first prequel, Bloodmoon, has already wrapped filming on its pilot episode, and it looks like the currently untitled sister series will be hot on its heels.
With control over deadly dragons, a penchant for fire and a ruthless ambition for power, the dynasty went down in the history books as utterly tyrannical.
This haunted Daenerys throughout her own pursuit of the Iron Throne, as she was warned not to follow in the footsteps of her father, ‘The Mad King’.
Thanks to George RR Martin’s extensive body of work, the series will no doubt be rich in lore and fantastical political intrigue, this time gravitating around the period documented in Fire & Blood.
A fitting title really, given how the silver-haired house are known for incinerating their enemies atop winged flamethrowers.
Martin previously admitted on his blog: “We have had five different Game of Thrones successor shows in development at HBO, and three of them are still moving forward nicely.
"Two other shows remain in the script stage, but are edging closer. What are they about? I cannot say.
“But maybe some of you should pick up a copy of Fire & Blood and come up with your own theories."
Martin has teamed up with acclaimed screenwriter and producer Ryan Condal for the new series, which currently has no predicted release date.
Given that 45 million people tuned into the last series, we doubt they’ll struggle to find an audience.
That being said, the final season did divide opinion, with many fans claiming the six feature-length episodes were rushed and oversimplified.
