Tipping Point: Ben Shephard astonished as player wins £10k after near-impossible victory

Tipping Point: Ben Shephard hugs jackpot winning contestant

Ben, 46, was on hand to help four more quizzing amateurs try their best to win the jackpot prize on offer, knocking each other out in the process. With £10,000 at stake, contestant Ann struggled early on in the game but she certainly showed her strength as by the end of the latest episode of Tipping Point, she had seen the back of all her other competitors. Although she luckily guessed a few answers, the player was victorious and won the grand cash prize on the ITV programme and the presenter was astonished by her feat.

Ann was rather jubilant and gave the Good Morning Britain star a huge hug as she couldn’t quite believe she’d won.

Ben then explained it didn’t seem the contestant was going to be victorious much earlier on in the programme, revealing why the victory was that more astonishing.

The host told viewers with the help of a double cash coin in the first round, the player had managed to claim the most amount of money out of the four quizzers standing.

In the final round, the counters on the famous machine’s shelves also looked scarce for a time as Ann hadn’t managed to have huge success with moving the star counter towards the edge of the tipping point.

With one coin left, the player defied all the odds as she did the impossible and walked away with £10,0000.

Reacting to her win, viewers could hear Ann thanking the host, although she did all the work to win the jackpot.

“I can’t believe it, thank you so much,” she remarked as she could be seen shaking the host’s hand.

“You’re welcome,” Ben replied, adding: “It’s my absolute pleasure, it really is. Look, £10,000. What were you going to do with the money?”

The contestant explained she was going to go travelling with her daughter and granddaughters, saying they would all be “so excited.”

Earlier this month, Ben informed fans of the show the application process to be on television was now open.

Speaking to viewers at home, the host explained: “If you want to set yourself a challenge for what has been a very tricky 2021 so far.

“Something to get you out your comfort zone, something you have always wanted to do but never quite felt like you could go for it. Here’s the challenge from me.

“We’re about to film the new series of Tipping Point in a few months time. We’re looking for new contestants.”

The presenter added further encouragement as he told loyal fans watching at home: “I promise you’ll really, really enjoy it.

“We can’t hug just yet but you could win thousands of pounds. Let’s face it, it’s way better,” he concluded.

If viewers are interested in taking part in the programme and hoping they could replicate Ann’s success, the application form is now live on the ITV website.

The closing date for applications is May 7, 2021, meaning fans have a few months to make their decision.

Tipping Point airs weekdays at 4pm on ITV.
