Why Escape to the Chateau's Angel rejected HUGE offer from Dragons' Den in mind-boggling twist

ESCAPE to the Chateau isn't the only hit show Angel Adoree has been a part of.

Before winning a legion of fans alongside husband Dick Strawbridge with their Channel 4 show, Angel appeared on Dragons' Den in 2010.

Angel, 43, went on the BBC One show to seek investment for her vintage-inspired tea shop and boutique, Vintage Patisserie, which she wanted to open in the heart of London's Soho.

Angel has always loved anything retro, and that coupled with her business brain after spending years as a chartered accountant lead to the idea for her own company.

Heading into the Den, Angel caught the Dragon's attention straightaway with dancers performing to vintage music.

She then explained her business idea and asked for £100,000 in return for a 40 per cent stake in Vintage Patisserie.

James Caan, Duncan Bannatyne and Peter Jones decided to opt out, but Theo Paphitis and Deborah Meaden both wanted to stump up the cash.

Angel opted to go with Deborah in the end, but after the show, changed her mind and subsequently turned down the offer.

Explaining her reasons behind her decision, Angel wrote on the Escape to the Chateau website: "I applied for Dragons' Den with a view to opening a vintage concept store and I desperately wanted a partner to make decisions with.

"Dick came along and ended up being my support and sounding board, and actually, after a while, I realised I did not want to open the restaurant."

She added that there were no hard feelings between her and Deborah, writing: "There was no big reason, and Deborah Meaden and I still stay in contact!"

Angel met Dick, 62, through her agent the same year she appeared on Dragons' Den.

The couple married in November 2015 and have two children together.

Escape to the Chateau airs on Channel 4 and is available on All4. Dragons' Den airs Thursday at 8pm on BBC One.
