Audi driver ploughs in pavement as baseball bat wielding yobs give chase

Shoppers jumped for their lives as after shocking footage shows the moment an Audi driver ploughed onto a pavement while baseball bat wielding yobs gave chase.

Newly emerged CCTV shows people making a dash to safety as the Audi Q7 mounts the pavement, narrowly missing a child, and crashing into a clothes rail.

A woman is also seen grabbing her and pulling her to safely with a second to spare.

The shocking incident happened on Alum Rock Road last Sunday, with two hooded men chasing the car on foot.

The driver manages to get out of the vehicle and man flees round a corner as the two yobs give chase. Later on in the clip, which has since been widely shared online, stunned passers-by survey the carnage.

BirminghamLive report the crash took place just before 5.45pm on Sunday (Dec 22).

A member of the Alum Rock Community Forum said condemned the behaviour as “reckless” and said the area would have been extremely busy with shoppers.

The spokesman said: “It’s shocking. This happened in the heart of the Alum Rock Road with people doing their Christmas shopping and taking advantage of the sales.

“They put women and children's lives at risk.

"From the video, we can see people parading around with three foot long bats again with no regard for the law.”

West Midland Police were approached for comment.
