Couple 'bury toddler up to neck in sand so they can have sex in sea'

A couple have been arrested after allegedly burying their two-year-old up to her neck in sand so they could have sex in the sea.

Witnesses on the beach, in Argentina, told police they saw the pair, both 29, trap the little girl before kissing and putting on an ‘obscene display’ in the water.

Temperatures are believed to have reached around 35°C while the child was in the sand.

The toddler was rescued after 45 minutes, with officers describing her as ‘hungry and sunburnt’.

Drugs including cannabis, ecstasy and sedative Rivotril were then found in the mother’s handbag, police reports indicate.

The couple, believed to be Argentinian and Paraguayan, both attempted to resist arrest, while the toddler was taken into temporary care.

A second man who was with the pair on the beach is also said to have fled before officers arrived.

None of those involved have been named by police.

The incident took place at the Atlantic Ocean resort of Santa Clara del Mar in Buenos Aires, on Monday, February 3.

A source told respected Argentinian newspaper Clarin: ‘It was about 95 degrees Fahrenheit (35°C) so imagine what that poor little girl was like.’

With additional reporting from Natalia Penza.
