Protester rescued by hero Black Lives Matter activist is a Millwall fan – and he wants to say 'thank you'

THE demonstrator rescued during violent protests by a Black Lives Matter hero is a Millwall FC fan with a club tattoo on his leg.

Injured Lions supporter Bryn Male, 55, was carried away from Saturday’s melee by martial arts expert Patrick Hutchinson.

Bryn, a regular at the club’s The Den ground, now hopes to thank Patrick who says he intervened because he feared Bryn’s “life was in danger”.

A source added that the incident should act as a wake-up call to Bryn who should “grow up and act his age”.

His son Harry, 21, told The Sun: “He’s got a black eye.” Asked if his dad would want to thank Patrick, he added: “He probably would. Who wouldn’t?”

Delivery driver Bryn lives in a detached home in Basingstoke, Hants, with wife Karen and Harry.

Patrick could have been killed

He was among several hundred demonstrators who travelled to central London with the aim, they said, of protecting statues, including Winston Churchill’s, from anti-racist protesters.

Fights broke out and missiles were thrown at police during the protests organised by far-right groups, including Britain First. It is believed Bryn was attacked near the Royal Festival Hall after becoming separated from friends.

Patrick slung Bryn over his shoulder and four others formed a protective ring around them as Patrick carried him to the safety of police lines.

Bryn was said to be shocked by his ordeal and is thought to be recovering.

A source said: “Bryn’s a fanatical Millwall fan and is well known in that crowd. He’d always go up on the train for protest marches in London.

“I wasn’t surprised when I saw him on the news. He’d have had a skinful.

“It could have been a lot worse for him — he could have been killed.

“That man who rescued him, Patrick, is a hero. He’s  clearly a great guy and he just swooped and got him to safety and away from danger.”

A woman who answered the door at the family’s home on Tuesday refused to speak to The Sun.

But the source added: “Bryn should learn from this. He needs to grow up.

“This should be a wake-up call. He’s in his 50s and  I’m not sure why he’s getting involved in stuff like this.”
