Thugs attack 5ft tall disabled man with rubber hammer – giving him brain injury

A disabled man was left with “tissue brain injury” after being attacked by a thug wielding a rubber hammer outside his own home.

Daniel Royle, 21, is recovering in hospital after the crime outside his home in Blackley, Manchester.

His distraught mum, Sharon, said she regretted letting her son stay out late after he was battered in the early hours of Saturday.

The 57-year-old told Manchester Evening News that her son “looks like he is about 11 years old” and is 5ft tall.

Sharon said: “Daniel is 21 but has the mental capacity of someone aged 15.

“He also has a bone condition, multiple exostoses, leaving him with 20 benign tumours.

"He is 5ft and weighs six stone five pounds.

“He looks like he is about 11 years old. He asked me if he could stay out last night with friends.

“I wish now I had said no."

According to Sharon, her lad has suffered a brain injury and still can’t open one of his eyes.

Describing his injuries, she said: “Daniel had a tooth knocked out and has had a CT scan which has shown he has tissue brain injury.

“Also he cannot open one of his eyes. He also has hairline fractures to his jaw, and is badly bruised.
